Zieten is the name of a Havelland nobility family from the parent company Groß-Zieten near Kremmen .

history

Jacob von Zieten is mentioned in a document in 1300 as the first verifiable representative. Since the 15th century, the sex appeared in a "red" and a "black" tribe with slightly different coats of arms .

Headquarters were Dechtow in Havelland (partly from 1490, whole from 1735) and Wustrau in Ruppiner Land (partly from 1590, whole from 1766). The Fideikommiss Wustrau, founded in 1852, went to his niece Caroline Albertine Luise von Zieten (1806-1853) and her husband Wilhelm Ludwig von Schwerin , Lord of Hohenbrünzow, Janow, Landskron, Neuendorf, Bartow and Strehlow, in 1854 after the death of Count Friedrich von Zieten , over. Her younger son, Albert Graf von Zieten-Schwerin , was raised to the Prussian count in 1859 according to the law of the first birth ( Primogenitur ) from each noble marriage with the name and coat of arms association "Zieten-Schwerin" , only for the respective owner of Wustrau during the descendants who did not come to the Fideikommiss continue to have the name and coat of arms "von Schwerin" .

Another noble family exists under the name "von Ziethen". It goes back to Ludwig Zieten, the illegitimate son of Major Joachim Balthasar von Zieten who was legitimized in 1816 and who was ennobled in 1838 under the name of Ziethen .

Ranks

The "black" tribe was raised to the Prussian count status on September 3, 1817 , the "red" tribe on October 15, 1840. Both count lines have expired. A count line from Zieten-Schwerin goes back to Albert von Schwerin, who received the Prussian count status in 1859 as the adoptive son of the royal Prussian district administrator Friedrich Graf von Zieten.
