Pop star on a detour (Original title: The Lizzie McGuire Movie ) is an American film from 2003. The feature film was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and is the conclusion of the television series Lizzie McGuire , also with Hilary Duff in the title role.

Lizzie and Gordo are taking their class’s graduation trip to Rome . At the Trevi Fountain, Lizzie meets the Italian pop star Paolo, who draws her attention to her amazing resemblance to his duet partner Isabella. With reference to discrepancies in the collaboration with Isabella, he asks Lizzie to fill in for Isabella at his next big gig and to sing playback. Isabella could not sing live at all and did all the performances via playback, which is why he wanted to get out of the duo. Because of the similarity, the audience would not notice that Lizzie is on stage instead of Isabella. During a chance meeting with the real Isabella, Gordo learns that it is really Paolo who cannot sing without playback and that he wants to use Lizzie to embarrass Isabella in front of a large audience. Gordo and Isabella turn the tables and have the playback switched off during Paolo's vocal part, so that his vocal inadequacies are revealed to the audience. This clears the stage for Lizzie, who, with the help of Isabella, offers the audience an impressive singing and dancing show. At the end you see a short kissing scene between Lizzie and Gordo on a roof terrace followed by fireworks.
