Evangeline Lilly
Nicole Evangeline Lilly (born August 3, 1979 in Fort Saskatchewan , Alberta ) is a Canadian actress and writer who became known worldwide for her role as Katherine (Kate) Austen in the American television series Lost .
Life
Lilly was discovered in Kelowna ( British Columbia ) by the Ford modeling agency . Although she initially opted for a modeling career, she only signed the contract with Ford to help finance her studies at the University of British Columbia . At the age of 18 she lived with a Protestant group in the Philippines for a short time to provide humanitarian aid. Furthermore, Lilly is committed to the American environmental protection to this day and works partly with the nature conservation organization Sierra Club .
From 2004 to 2010 she played the role of Kate Austen in the US television series Lost and was voted the sexiest woman on US television in March 2007 by the readers of the US magazine TV Guide . In June 2011, Peter Jackson announced that Lilly would play the role of Tauriel in the film adaptation of JRR Tolkien's book The Hobbit . This is a character that was specially created for the film and therefore does not appear in the book. In the same year she played on the side of Hugh Jackman in Real Steel . In 2015, she took on the role of Hope van Dyne / Wasp in the Marvel comic book adaptation of Ant-Man . She played the same role in 2018 in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp and in 2019 in Avengers: Endgame .
In 2008 Lilly signed a modeling contract with Davidoff Cool Water . In 2014 Lilly published her first children's book The Squickerwonkers , which has so far been published in English, Portuguese and German.
Private
Lilly was married to Canadian ice hockey player Murray Hone from 2001 to 2003. Between 2004 and 2009 she dated her British colleague Dominic Monaghan . She is currently dating Norman Kali, who worked on the set of Lost . In May 2011 Lilly had her first child, a son. In October 2015, Lilly had her second child. She currently lives in Hawaii .
