Alex Borstein
Alexandrea "Alex" Borstein (born February 15, 1973 in Highland Park , Illinois ) is an American actress , voice actress , screenwriter , producer and comedian .
biography
Borstein was born in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago, to Judy and Irving Borstein from Hungary, and grew up in the Deerfield suburb . She has two older brothers. Borstein is Jewish, her mother is a survivor of the Shoah. She moved to Southern California in the early 1980s . In 1989 she moved to San Francisco , where she studied communication science at San Francisco State University and graduated in 1992. She then went to California State University, Northridge, and pursued a master's degree in her major. During her studies there, she joined the ACME Comedy Theater . There she met Erin Ehrlich , her later screenwriting partner at u. a. the television series Caspar , Histeria! and Pinky and the Brain .
Borstein was best known as a comedian on the show MADtv , especially through the character Ms. Swan . But she also made a name for herself as the producer and screenwriter of the Family Guy series , in which she also lends her voice to the character Lois Griffin and numerous supporting characters such as Tricia Takanawa . She had greater success from 2017 through the comedy series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel . The lead role of the eccentric agent Susie Myerson brought her u. a. two emmys one.
From 1999 to 2014 Borstein was married to actor Jackson Douglas , who was seen next to her on MADtv. She was originally supposed to play the role of Sookie St. James , the wife of Douglas' character Jackson Belleville , in the series Gilmore Girls , but had to quit due to contractual difficulties. So she played two small supporting roles in the series : that of the harpist Drella and the designer Miss Celine .
In 2006, Borstein, along with Steve Callaghan , Gary Janetti and Chris Sheridan, received a DVD Exclusive Award in the category Best Screenplay (for a DVD Premiere Movie) for the screenplay of Family Guy Presents: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story .
