Johann (es) Wolfgang Reichsfreiherr von Bodman (born January 19, 1651 in Bodman ; † September 29 or October 6, 1691 ) had been auxiliary bishop in Constance since 1686 .

Johann Wolfgang von Bodman came from the old Swabian noble family Bodman . He was the son of Hans Adam von Bodman and Maria Magdalena von Sickingen. He had two brothers, Johann Adam and Johann Joseph.

Life

Johann Wolfgang became canon in Constance in 1665. From 1666 to 1673 he studied in Rome as an alumne of the Collegium Germanicum . He was ordained a priest in the diocese of Constance on August 6, 1673, and in 1675 he was made capitular in Constance. In 1686 he became cathedral cantor.

On September 2, 1686 he was appointed titular bishop of Dardanus and auxiliary bishop in Constance. The details of his episcopal ordination have not been preserved, in particular the name of the donating bishop or the date of the consecration. A succession line named after Bodman in the Catholic Church, which still occurs in Indonesia today, goes back to this consecration .
