Bordertown is an American animated - television series , which in 2016 on Fox aired. It deals with life in a small American town on the border between California and Mexico . The series was created by Mark Hentemann, who previously worked for Family Guy . The series was canceled after just one season.

The series is set in the fictional city of Mexifornia on the Mexican-California border. The main actors are the families of the border guard and immigration opponent Bud Buckwald and his neighbor Ernesto Gonzalez, an immigrant from Mexico who runs a successful gardening business. Bud has a wife named Janice and two grown children named Sanford and Becky, and a young daughter named Gert. Gonzales lives with his wife Maria, his adult son Ruiz, little Pepito, as well as his nephew and college student JC and Ernesto's father Placido. An important element of the series is the coexistence between whites and Hispanics and the immigration policy of the United States.

Production and broadcast
Bordertown was created by Mark Hentemann , who was previously a writer and showrunner on Family Guy . The series was produced by Hentemann Films, Fuzzy Door Productions and 20th Century Fox . Hentemann and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane acted as executive producers . The thirteen episode first season aired on Fox from January to May 2016. Because of bad ratings, Fox decided not to commission another season. It was published in Germany in March and April 2020 on ProSieben Fun .
