The Critics' Choice Television Award in the category Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Original name: Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series ) is one of the awards , held annually in the United States by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association , a federation awarded by television critics, . It is aimed at actresses that an outstanding performance in a supporting role in a comedy - TV series have provided. The category was launched in 2011. The winners will be determined in a secret vote by the association's television critics.

History and records

Since it was first awarded, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association has awarded a total of twelve awards in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series category to nine different actresses. The first winner was Busy Philipps , who was honored in 2011 for her role as Laurie Keller in Cougar Town . The last winner so far was Alex Borstein , who was honored in 2018 for her role as Susie Myerson in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel .

The oldest winner at the age of 59 was the American Kate Mulgrew ( Orange Is the New Black ) in 2014 , and the oldest nominated actress at the age of 86 in 2018 was the Puerto Rican Rita Moreno ( One Day at a Time ). The youngest winner at the age of 21 was the American Eden Sher ( The Middle ) in 2013 , and the youngest nominated actress at the age of 19 in 2011 was also the American Eden Sher ( The Middle ).
