Black-ish (shown in the title as `blackish ) is an American television series that premiered on September 24, 2014 on ABC . The comedy series revolves around an upper-middle-class African-American family. The series stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross . It has not yet been broadcast on television in Germany, but the streaming provider maxdome has been offering the series since July 1, 2017. It is also available via Prime Video from Amazon, Google Play Movies and Apple iTunes .

The sixth season started on September 24, 2019 in the USA.

The first spin-off Grown-ish appeared in 2018 , in which the eldest Johnson daughter Zoey studies at Cal U. In 2019, another offshoot was published with Mixed-ish , in which Rainbow Johnson looks back on her childhood and youth in a black-and-white mixed family.

On May 21, 2020, the series was extended for a seventh season.

The Johnsons are a middle-class African American family in the United States. The focus is on family man Andre Johnson, a successful advertising manager, and Rainbow Johnson, an anesthetist. Together they raise their initially 4 and later 5 children in a mostly white neighborhood, which often leads to cultural identity crises.

The pilot episode aired on ABC on September 24, 2014 and was watched by 11.04 million viewers. The first season ran until May 20, 2015. The season finale of the first season was followed by 5.36 million viewers. On May 7, 2015, the broadcaster ABC ordered a second season of the series. The second season aired from September 23, 2015 to May 18, 2016.

On March 3, 2016, Black-ish was renewed for a third season. The third season was first broadcast on September 21, 2016. The season finale of the third season ran on May 10, 2017. On the same day, the series was extended by a fourth season, which celebrated its premiere on October 3, 2017. The season finale of the fourth season aired on May 15, 2018. A fifth season was ordered on May 11th.

The fifth season ran from October 16, 2018 to May 21, 2019. On May 2, 2019, Black-ish was extended by a sixth season. This has been broadcast since September 24, 2019.

Germany

There has not yet been a German TV premiere. The first two seasons celebrated their German premiere on July 1, 2017 on the streaming provider maxdome . The entire third season was released on February 1, 2018 on Sky GO, Sky Ticket and Amazon Prime Video . On March 1, 2019, the entire fourth season appeared on Sky GO, Sky Ticket and Amazon Prime. The fifth season has been available on Amazon Prime, Joyn , maxdome and TVNOW since May 1, 2020 .
