Tracee Ellis Ross
Tracee Ellis Ross (* 29. October 1972 in Los Angeles , California as Tracee Joy Silberstein ) is an American actress and Golden Globe winner.
Life and accomplishments
Tracee Ellis Ross, a daughter of singer Diana Ross and Robert Ellis Silberstein , graduated from Brown University in 1994 and studied acting at the William Esper Acting Studio . She worked intermittently as a fashion editor for Mirabella and New York Magazine .
The American debuted as an actress alongside Jennifer Connelly and Marcia Gay Harden in the 1996 independent drama Personal Affairs . In the 1997 television series The Dish , she appeared in one of the larger roles. Hung up in the drama ! (2000) starred alongside Meg Ryan , Diane Keaton , Lisa Kudrow and Walter Matthau .
Ross has played the role of Joan Carol Clayton , the junior partner of a law firm, who is friends with Antoinette Marie Childs ( Jill Marie Jones ), Maya Denise Wilkes ( Golden Brooks ) and Lynn Searcy ( Persia White ) in the television series Girlfriends since 2000 . For this role she was nominated for the Image Award in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 . In 2004 she was nominated for Best Actress for the BET Comedy Award , which she received after being nominated again in 2005.
After Ross only appeared in the Girlfriends series for a few years , she has played in several films again since 2006. In the comedy I-See-You.Com (2006) she appeared on the side of Beau Bridges and Rosanna Arquette . She starred alongside Gabrielle Union and Louis Gossett Jr. in the 2007 independent film drama Daddy's Little Girls .
Ross was honored in 2017 for her role as Dr. Rainbow "Bow" Johnson won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Series - Comedy / Musical in the sitcom Black-ish .
