Golden Brooks

Golden Brooks (* 1. December 1970 in San Francisco , California as Golden Ameda Brooks ) is an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Brooks studied literature and sociology at the University of California, Berkeley . She then completed her studies at Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers with a master's degree .

Brooks played her first film role in the short film Drive by: A Love Story from 1997. A year later she appeared in the drama Hell's Kitchen on the side of Rosanna Arquette and Angelina Jolie . She starred in the drama Timecode (2000) alongside Kyle MacLachlan , Salma Hayek , Jeanne Tripplehorn and Holly Hunter .

Brooks has played the role of Maya Denise Wilkes , the employee and friend of Joan Carol Clayton ( Tracee Ellis Ross ), who later becomes a book author, in the television series Girlfriends since 2000 . For this role she was nominated for the Image Award in 2003 , and in 2004 she won the BET Comedy Award . In 2005 she was nominated for the Black Reel Award for her role in the thriller Motives (2004) . She was in the music video Straight To the Bank of 50 cents to see from the year of 2007.

In her spare time, Brooks is involved with the Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the AIDS Project Los Angeles .

Brooks and DB Woodside have a daughter born in 2009.
