50 Cent , real name Curtis James Jackson III (born July 6, 1975 in Queens , New York ), is an American gangsta rapper and actor . After being discovered by Jam Master Jay , he was shot several times and fired from his record label. In 2003, Eminem and Dr. Dre him again. He's sold several million records. Life

Curtis Jackson grew up in poor conditions in the South Jamaica area of ​​the New York borough of Queens. He did not know his father and his mother was murdered in her house when he was eight years old. Strangers had broken into her house and turned the gas on while she slept, so that she choked on the gas. After her death, Jackson lived with his grandparents. Since he had already had links to the drug business through his mother , he was already a 12-year-old drug dealer and served several short prison terms; he received his first major sentence at the age of 18.

He was discovered by the now murdered Jam Master Jay ( Run-DMC ), who signed him for his label. After the record deal with Jam Master had proven unproductive, he moved to Columbia Records . There he made his debut album Power of the Dollar . Before it could be released, strangers stabbed Jackson in front of a recording studio. In a shooting in front of his grandparents' house on May 24, 2000, he was hit by nine bullets in the face, arms and legs; however, he was released from the hospital after just 13 days. After returning to the drug scene, Jackson was discovered for the second time. Eminem signed him to his label Shady Records (and at the same time also to Aftermath Entertainment ) in 2002 .

In May 2005 Jackson was sentenced to two years probation with regular drug testing and anti-aggression training for injuring three women and sparking a brawl at a May 2004 concert in Springfield . He confessed to the assault and accepted the conditions to avoid prison terms.

In June 2012 Jackson was involved in a car accident and was briefly hospitalized as a result. A truck had hit him on the highway.

After being sentenced to $ 5 million in damages just a week earlier for publishing a private sex video by Lastonia Leviston, Jackson filed for personal bankruptcy on July 13, 2015 with a rumored $ 45 million. An important reason for this step is that the bankruptcy protection usually interrupts court processes and suspends compensation payments, is criticized by the press.

Career

His 2003 album Get Rich or Die Tryin ' was the most successful album of the year in the US with 6.5 million copies sold. It has been sold 15 million times worldwide and has been awarded platinum eight times by the RIAA . In a television interview, Jackson revealed that his favorite track is "Many Men". He could identify with this song because many people hated him, wanted to kill him and that life in the ghetto was very difficult. On March 8, 2005, the second album The Massacre went on sale, which reached number one on the album hit parades in numerous countries. It received five platinum awards in the United States. In the summer of 2005, 50 Cent made an autobiographical film that is supposed to show his life and career. Like his best-selling album to date, it is called Get Rich or Die Tryin ' . The shooting took place in Canada. The promotion of the film was controversial because it glorified the carrying of firearms. Jackson's film was released in Germany on January 12, 2006 in cinemas. The accompanying album was available since November 15, 2005. The reviews of the film were mostly negative. At Rotten Tomatoes , the film only received a rating of 17/100, with 73% of the audience rating it as good.

Jackson is the founder of the rap group G Unit , which has been the focus of attention since his breakthrough as a solo artist. In 2003 this group released the joint work Beg for Mercy , Lloyd Banks debut album The Hunger for More and Young Bucks solo album Straight Outta Cashville . The albums achieved high sales. Black Magic was announced for November 2011 as the fifth studio album . On July 27, 2011, the song I'm on It , planned as the first single , leaked , for which Jackson publicly blamed the label - because this was the only one of the 41 recorded tracks that the rapper passed on to Interscope. Entrepreneurial activity

Under the G Unit label , Jackson markets a clothing line , cell phone ring tones , computer games and dime novels . In return for an advertising contract with the New York-based beverage company Glacéau , which launched the “Formula 50” drink for him in its vitamin water division, he took over a 10% stake in Glaceau.
