Rattlesnake Annie

Rattlesnake Annie (* 26. December 1941 as Ann Gallimore in Puryear , Tennessee ) is an American country singer.

biography

Ann Gallimore had Native American ancestors and grew up in a rural setting. With two cousins ​​she formed the trio Gallimore Sisters, which had numerous appearances - including at a local radio station. After winning a talent competition, they even played in the Grand Ole Opry . In 1968 she married Max McGowan, who became her manager from then on.

Musically she joined Willie Nelson , whom she met in 1969. In 1976 she founded her own label and produced the album Rattlesnakes And Rusty Water, which only became a success in Europe. Rattlesnake Annie appeared more and more frequently in Europe in the following years. In 1982 the album Rattlesnake Annie And The Last Cowboy was recorded in Czechoslovakia with country singer Michal Tučný , which sold well in the then Eastern Bloc countries and with which she was finally able to attract attention in the USA. Some time later, the critically acclaimed album Rattlesnake Annie was produced in Nashville .

She moved to Spain in the mid-1980s. She performed in numerous European countries as well as in Japan. Some of their songs are dedicated to Japanese, Czech and German friends.
