Animal Ambition: An Untamed Desire to Win is the fifth studio album by the American rapper 50 Cent (German: Animal Ambition: An untamed desire to win ) . It was released on May 30, 2014 on his own label G-Unit Records and Caroline Records .

Almost every song on the album was produced by a different producer. Only Jake One is represented with two instrumentals ( Hustler , The Funeral ) on Animal Ambition . One beat each comes from Frank Dukes ( Hold On ), Charli Brown Beatz ( Don't Worry 'Bout It ), Swiff D ( Animal Ambition ), Shamtrax ( pilot ), Dr. Dre , Dawaun Parker and Mark Batson ( Smoke ), Steve Alien ( Everytime I Come Around ), G Rocka and Medi ( Irregular Heartbeat ), JustHustle and Kyle Justice ( Twisted ), Ky Miller ( Winners Circle ), Ty Fyffe ( Chase the Paper ), Soul Professa ( You Know ) as well as Nascent and QB ( Flip on You ). 50 Cent acted as executive producer on his album , but did not produce any instrumental himself.

Cover design

Guest Posts

In addition to 50 Cent, other artists are represented on seven or eight songs on the album. The rapper Yo Gotti has a guest appearance on the song Don't Worry 'Bout It , while Trey Songz can be heard in Smoke . Chase the Paper is a collaboration with rappers Prodigy , Styles P. and Kidd Kidd, the latter also featured on the pieces Everytime I Come Around and Irregular Heartbeat (alongside Jadakiss ). At Twisted 50 Cent is supported by the Dutch rapper Mr. Probz and Guordan Banks appears on Winners Circle . In addition, the rapper Schoolboy Q can be heard in the bonus song Flip on You .

Animal Ambition entered the German album charts at number 35 on June 16, 2014 and left the top 100 the following week. In the USA, the album reached position 4 and stayed in the top 200 for 13 weeks.

Beginning on March 18, 2014 with the songs Don't Worry 'Bout It and Hold On , all eleven songs of the standard edition of the album, including music videos, were released and released as singles for download almost at weekly intervals. Of the tracks, only Pilot was able to place himself at number 95 in the British charts for one week.

Animal Ambition received mostly average ratings from critics. The side Metacritic calculated from 16 Reviews of English-language media an average of 53%.

David Maurer from laut.de rated the album with three out of a possible five points. Animal Ambition sounds like “stuck in 2005”, with 50 Cent rapping “always passably over the slightly dusty beats” and “always providing nostalgic and thoroughly entertaining moments”. In addition, the "provocative, leisurely sung hooks" and most of the guest contributions are positively highlighted.

Aria Nejati wrote for Hiphop.de that Animal Ambition appeared to be “an above-average keeper of the pole”. Although 50 Cent brings the tough street tracks to the listener with a “skillfully cool naturalness”, the radio songs “don't yet [sound] like the global megahits that one is used to from him”. 50 Cent had forced comparisons with his magnum opus Get Rich or Die Tryin ' "on the basis of statements in interviews before the release", but had to "primarily compete with the current rap scene."
