Yo Gotti (2013)

Yo Gotti (born May 19, 1981 in Memphis , Tennessee ; real name Mario Mims ) is an American rapper .

Career

Yo Gotti, who like several other rappers named himself after the Mafioso John Gotti , already appeared in the 90s, but it was not until 2000 that he released his own records. In 2003 he signed with a real label, TVT Records, and released the album Life . Two years later his breakthrough began with the song Full Time from the soundtrack of the film Hustle & Flow . After this first hit, his next album Back 2 da Basics also proved to be successful. It made it to the top 100 on the album sales charts and the top 10 on the R&B charts. With Gangsta Party , the album also contained a first R&B hit song (number 80 on the R&B charts).

With the following two mixtapes Cocaine Muzik and CM2 he was able to establish himself in the R&B charts, but they did not produce another hit. It came out at the end of 2009 as the pre-single of a new album. With 5 Star he got into the official Hot 100 for the first time .
