YG , also YG (abbreviation for Young Gangsta ) (born March 9, 1990 in Compton , California , real name Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson ) is an American rapper .

Career

Keenon Jackson put his first self-produced songs like She's a Model and Aim Me on the Internet and there they were discovered by the Def Jam label , which signed him in 2009. First he recorded a number of mixtapes and worked with other musicians, which already brought him first positions in the US charts . In 2013 he went into the studio with Young Jeezy to produce his debut album. At the end of 2013 he had a hit with the pre- single My Nigga / My Hitta , which made it into the top 20 of the US charts and reached gold status. It was also able to place in Australia and Great Britain.

In April 2016 he caused a stir with the single FDT (Fuck Donald Trump) . In it, he and Nipsey Hussle criticized the Republican presidential candidate and later US President Donald Trump . The controversial text led to an investigation by the Secret Service and ultimately led to the partial censorship of the album Still Brazy .

Private

In June 2015, Jackson was gunned down by strangers outside his Los Angeles recording studio. Three bullets hit him in the hip. In subsequent interviews with the LAPD , he refused to make any statements. On the song Who Shot Me? , which can be heard on the album Still Brazy , YG processed this incident. YG is also the founder and CEO of "4hunnid", an online clothing shop and record label.
