HER
HER (* 27. June 1997 in Vallejo , California as Gabriella Wilson ) is an American R & B singer.
biography
Gabriella Wilson performed live concerts as a child; at the age of ten she performed at the Apollo Theater in New York and appeared on television with cover songs by Alicia Keys . At the age of 14 she was signed to the RCA label . She released the single Something to Prove in 2014 , and the following year she released a cover of Drake's Jungle .
In 2016 she published the EP H.ER, Volume 1 under the pseudonym HER - as an abbreviation for Having Everything Revealed and at the same time the pronoun "she" (English her ) . At first she tried to keep her identity a secret, but Jungle was also included on the EP and resulted in her identity being exposed. She was also involved as a writer on the remaining 6 songs on the EP. Alicia Keys and Bryson Tiller drew attention to the EP on their social media pages, helping them get into the R&B charts . HER, Volume 2, followed in June 2017 and this time she also entered the official album charts at number 49.
Her debut album HER was released in autumn, but it contained only a few new songs and the majority consisted of the songs from the two EPs. It came to number 23 on the official charts and sold over half a million copies ( gold record ). With Focus and Best Part - a collaboration with Daniel Caesar - two songs made it into the top 100 of the single charts . They received platinum awards. Above all, however, she has received critical acclaim and has received numerous nominations for renowned music prizes. She was nominated five times for a Grammy Award , including Newcomer of the Year, and won two awards in R&B for the album and for Best Part .
In summer 2018 HER released the next EP entitled I Used to Know Her: The Prelude . With number 20 in the charts, she once again surpassed the previous positions and the collaboration Could've Been with her sponsor Bryson Tiller was another single hit. As before, a few months later there was a sequel with I Used to Know Her: Part 2 and in summer 2019 the second album I Used to Know Her with all EP songs and 5 other songs. Both releases brought her placements in the top 100 of the album charts.
At the Grammy Awards 2020 , HER was again nominated five times for an award. On the occasion of these Grammy Awards, a tribute concert for Prince took place on January 28, 2020 in the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles under the motto "Let's Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince", at which HER performed and the songs Let's Go Crazy and The Beautiful Ones sang. The concert aired on U.S. television on April 21, 2020, the fourth anniversary of Prince's death.
