RCA Records
RCA Records is a music label in New York City and part of Sony Music Entertainment . The abbreviation RCA is derived from the Radio Corporation of America , from which the company emerged.
The RCA label family
There are three RCA labels that work together:
- RCA Records, which distributes pop , rock and country music .
- RCA Victor, which publishes Broadway musicals , blues , jazz and soul , among others .
- Red Seal , dedicated to classical music dedicated.
history
In 1986, due to large debts, RCA was sold to its former founder, General Electric . General Electric decided to sell the record business to the German media group Bertelsmann .
In 2005 the German Bertelsmann Music Group merged with the Japanese Sony Music, creating one of the largest record companies, Sony-BMG . On August 5, 2008, Bertelsmann and Sony announced the dissolution of the Sony BMG joint venture . Sony took over the shares from Bertelsmann and has operated under the name Sony Music Entertainment Inc.
