Little Mix is a four-piece pop group from England . It consists of the singers Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. As the first group, she won the eighth season of the British talent show The X Factor in December 2011 . The band was supervised by N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos and put together by Kelly Rowland . Little Mix advocate women's and LGBT rights .

Career

The four band members first sang successfully as solo singers, but dropped out in the boot camp. The jury decided to give them one more chance and let four of them take part in the group category. Nelson and Edwards as part of 'Faux Pas' and Thirlwall and Pinnock as part of 'Orion', but both groups failed again. Jurors Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos decided to let the four contestants continue as a single group called 'Rhythmix'. On October 26, 2011, the band name change from 'Rhythmix' to 'Little Mix' was announced after a lawsuit by a charity from Brighton with the same name caused quite a stir when X Factor wanted to trademark the name 'Rhythmix'. The disputes were resolved when Simon Cowell , head of Syco (The X Factor) , donated a large sum to the organization and the band decided on their own to change their name.

Little Mix on their DNA tour (2013)

On December 11, 2011, Little Mix became the first band in X-Factor history to win the competition, and they were the only girl band to date to make it into live shows. Her first single Cannonball was released as a download immediately after the finale and shortly afterwards on CD and immediately rose to number 1 in the British charts. In addition to Cannonball , the single also features three live performances from The X Factor show. The debut album DNA was released in November 2012. Richard “Biff” Stannard, who has written for the Spice Girls , among others , worked on a song on the album. On November 11, 2013, the second album Salute was released , which was created in summer 2013. In the United States of America , the record was released in January 2014 and reached number 1 on the iTunes charts. In 2014 Little Mix took part in Sport Relief 2014 and also sang the theme song Word Up!

They are the first British girl group to make it into the top 5 of the Billboard 200 with a debut album .

In July 2015, Little Mix announced that their third studio album, Get Weird, would be released on November 6, 2015. The first single from this album was Black Magic , which was released publicly on July 10, 2015. The single went straight to number one on the UK charts. It stayed there for three weeks. On September 25, the group released their second single from the album, Love Me Like You , but only in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The album reached number two in the UK charts in its first week, which is the group's highest entry to date. In the US charts, the album debuted at number 13 on the Billboard 200, making Little Mix the only group from the UK to have three albums in the top fifteen of the Billboard 200 charts. The album went platinum with over 520,000 sales in the UK, making it the group's best-selling album to date. On December 5th, Little Mix announced their third single from the album, Secret Love Song, via Twitter . This song is a co-production with the American R&B singer Jason Derulo . The single reached number six on the UK Singles Chart and has achieved gold status. A second, acoustic version ( Secret Love Song Part 2 , without Jason Derulo) can be found on the deluxe version of the album. Due to their enormous success, they were nominated for two prizes at the BRIT Awards on February 24, 2016 , Best British Single and British Artist Video, which they did not win. They also sang their song Black Magic .

The Get Weird Tour started on March 13, 2016 to promote the album. For the first time in the band's history, their tour extends through 60 concerts in Europe, Australia and Asia. The Get Weird Tour holds the record for the best-selling tickets on a UK Arena Tour with over 300,000 tickets sold in England alone. On April 11, 2016, the band announced their fourth single from the album, Hair . With the sale of the single and the release of the music video, a new version was recorded, where Sean Paul is now collaborating. The single was released four days later and has achieved gold status in the UK. On October 16, 2016, the song Shout Out to My Ex was released as the lead single of the fourth album Glory Days . Within an hour, the single reached the top of the English iTunes charts. On November 18, 2016, the album Glory Days was released, which reached number 1 in six countries and in a further 60 countries in the iTunes charts on the same day. The album made it to number 27 in Germany. A short time later they announced their fourth tour, this time also through America. In Germany, after only one concert in Germany on the Get Weird Tour , they reported three concerts. On September 22nd, Ariana Grande announced that Little Mix would be the support act on their Dangerous Woman Tour .

On January 20, 2017, they released their second single, Touch, along with a video. On March 1, 2017, Little Mix announced that No More Sad Songs would be the third single from the album Glory Days to be released as a music video, but with a version starring Machine Gun Kelly . The song was released on March 3, 2017, followed by the music video on March 30, 2017. On May 19, 2017, Little Mix announced that Power would be the fourth single from their album Glory Days . The song was released on May 26, 2017 in a version that includes a rap part by Stormzy . On June 9, 2017, they released the accompanying video. On September 17th, 2017 Little Mix released a remix version of the song "Reggaetón Lento" together with the music group CNCO . The original single was released by CNCO October 7, 2016, but without Little Mix. On November 24th 2017 the Glory Days: The Platinum Edition was released with a one-hour documentary & 3 new songs and the Reggaetón Lento (remix) .

On June 22, 2018, the single Only You was released with the American DJ trio Cheat Codes .

The group has been working on their 5th studio album since March 2018. In an Instagram livestream on August 16, 2018, the group revealed that they only have to go to the studio for 2 days before the album is completely finished. Even before the said live stream, they published an excerpt from one of the new songs on Instagram, but said in the live stream that this is not the first single from the new album. On October 12, 2018, they released their new single Woman Like Me for which they brought Nicki Minaj into the studio. The accompanying music video was released on October 26th, 2018. On November 16th, 2018, the fifth album "LM5" was released. The single "Wasabi" from this album was popularized by a trend of the popular Tik Tok app.
