Matthew "Matt" Cardle (born April 15, 1983 ) is a British pop singer. In his home country, he became known in late 2010 by winning the seventh season of the talent show The X Factor .

Career

Cardle was born the son of David and Jennifer Cardle and grew up in Little Maplestead ( Essex on). He worked in various professions, most recently as a painter and decorator. Before applying to The X Factor , he was the front man and guitarist of the band Seven Summers, with whom he released an album in early 2010 and won the Panics Best Band award in 2010 . He currently lives in Southampton .

At The X Factor he reached the finals under the supervision of Dannii Minogue and finally won the competition against Rebecca Ferguson in the vote for the last show on December 12, 2010 . Linked to the win is a £ 1 million record deal with Sony Music . His debut single When We Collide , a cover version of Biffy Clyro's song Many of Horror , came out immediately after the last show. It peaked at number 1 on the UK charts and was a number one Christmas hit .
