Leon Jackson (born December 30, 1988 in Whitburn , Scotland ) is a British pop singer. In his home country, he became known for winning the fourth season of the talent show The X Factor , which was broadcast on the evening program of the ITV television channel between August and December 2007 .

Career

Jackson grew up with his single mother in Whitburn. He initially worked as a retail salesman. His career as a singer only began in 2007 when friends signed him up for a karaoke competition that he promptly won.

In the summer of 2007 he took part in the auditions for the fourth season of the popular show The X Factor in Glasgow . Supported by his mentor Dannii Minogue , he fought his way through numerous qualifying rounds. Finally, he prevailed in the final show on December 15, 2007 against his competitors Rhydian Roberts and the band Same Difference and received a record deal worth one million British pounds with Syco Music / Sony BMG .

One day after the finale, Jackson's debut single When You Believe , a cover version of the 1998 hit by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston , was released in the UK in the week before Christmas . The single reached number 1 on the charts and was a Christmas number one -Hit .
