Dalton Harris

Dalton Harris (born December 29, 1993 in Clarendon ) is a Jamaican singer. In 2010 he won Digicel Rising Star . He gained greater fame when he won the fifteenth season of the music talent show The X Factor in Great Britain .

life and career

1993–2010: Beginnings and Digicel Rising Stars

Harris was born in Clarendon , but later moved to Kingston to focus on his music career. He must have had a difficult life that he had to share with 22 siblings before he was 15 years old. In interviews, he has also spoken about the fact that he was both physically and mentally abused in his childhood. Harris attended Kingston College, where he graduated from six subjects.

In 2010 he took part in the Jamaican music competition Digicel Rising Stars and emerged as the youngest winner in the show's history in the final. With this he won a prize of 1.5 million Jamaican dollars, which corresponds to about ten thousand euros.

2010–2017: Career in Jamaica

After winning, he began releasing music in Jamaica.

In the following years he traveled around and released many songs like "I'm Numb", "Watch Over Me" and "That Wonderful Sound" in 2015, "All I Need", "Whisper in the Wind", "Unfaithful Chronicles" "and" Dem Kinda Woman "in 2016 and" Perilous Time "in 2017. In 2018 he released the joint album Unintentional Astronaut in collaboration with Mike Needler.

2018: The X Factor

Also in 2018, Harris applied for the fifteenth season of The X Factor . During his audition he sang Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word by Elton John , whereupon he received four “yeses” from jurors Robbie Williams , Ayda Field , Louis Tomlinson and Simon Cowell . Since he was in the boys category , he was looked after by Tomlinson.

Due to the singer's increasing success, this season X Factor was also broadcast in Jamaica on the Jamaican TV station TVJ .

During the Six-Chair Challenge was Harris, the last candidate who was to sing and sing Purple Rain by Prince . The next few episodes he successfully fought his way through the show and into the live shows . There he sang in the semifinals Feeling Good by Muse and Clown by Emeli Sandé . Harris had already established himself as a crowd favorite. He eventually reached the show's finale, which took place on December 1, 2018, where he faced Anthony Russell and Scarlett Lee . During the final show, he performed with A Song For You by Leon Russell and also sang along with Emeli Sande her title Beneath You're Beautiful . His winning single was The Power Of Love , originally by Frankie Goes to Hollywood , in a duet with former X Factor winner James Arthur .
