Simon Phillip Cowell (born October 7, 1959 in London ) is a British music and film producer .

Life

Simon Cowell was in the London Borough of Lambeth and grew up in Elstree in the county of Hertfordshire on. He began his career in the music industry as an A&R consultant for Sony BMG Music Entertainment . Cowell is the inventor and jury member of the British and US talent shows Britain's Got Talent , The X Factor , America's Got Talent and The X Factor USA . Prior to that, he was a jury member for the American talent show American Idol and Pop Idol . The concept for the casting show The X Factor was developed by his company Syco . In early 2010 he announced that after nine years he was giving up his job as a juror at American Idol to focus more on his program The X Factor .

He was also one of the jurors on the show Superstar Worldwide for the USA. Simon Cowell is known for his sometimes harsh comments to the candidates . He was seen in the feature film Scary Movie 3, among others, and speaks himself in the American Idol parody in the bonus part of the DVD Shrek 2 - The daring hero returns .

He was at the 2013 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in the category Favorite Villain excellent. On August 22, 2018, he was honored with the 2,642nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .

Cowell and his partner Lauren Silverman (* 1977) have a son, Eric (* 2014).
