Scary Movie 3 is a comedy released in 2003. It is a sequel to Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2 . In 2006 the fourth part, Scary Movie 4, and in 2013 the fifth part, Scary Movie 5, was released . In 2005, Scary Movie 3 was released as Scary Movie 3.5 in a four-minute longer cut .

Hysterical blondes Katie and Becca talk over a video. Katie says it's a sex movie , but Becca tells her it's scary. After viewing, they call and announce their imminent death in seven days. Some strange things happen in the house and when the two women see the video with the rings they die.

The apostate priest Tom Logan lives with his brother George on a farm in Middleburg , 20 kilometers from Washington, DC . When the dogs behave strangely and Tom's daughter Sue screams, they discover a crop circle in the field that forms an arrow and the words "Attack here". Cindy Campbell reports about it on the television news. She would like to go into more detail, but her boss thinks that sex and violence bring better rates. Then she picks up her nephew Cody, who has paranormal abilities and paints morbid pictures, from the school where her old friend Brenda works as a teacher. George comes to pick up Sue too. Cindy falls in love with him and he invites her and Brenda to a battle rap the next night, in which he takes part.

In battle rap, George competes against the favorite defending champion Fat Joe . He wins, but is kicked out anyway for ignorantly showing a reference to the Ku Klux Klan . After the event, Cindy goes to Brenda, who tells her about the shocking video she saw exactly seven days ago. Brenda fakes her death several times in a row. When she then goes into the living room, the video appears and Tabitha, the zombie girl from the film, climbs out of the television. She fights Brenda and eventually kills her while Cindy next door ignores the screams about the previous pranks. George learns of Brenda's death and tells Sue with loud shouts.

A man named Sayaman comes to Tom and reminds him of the accident in which Tom's wife, Annie, died. This was pressed against a tree by the car and torn. Her last words to Tom were "No Sex". Chaos breaks out at Brenda's wake when George and his rapper friend Mahalik misunderstand the term and try to revive the dead. Cindy goes back to Brenda's room, sees the video there and receives the seven-day call. George comes to the rescue with Mahalik and the third rapper, CJ. The latter recommends Cindy to visit his aunt Shaneequa. While George takes care of Cody, Cindy drives to the woman who presents herself as an oracle . Shaneequa watches the video, fights with Tabitha, and discovers a lighthouse that could help solve the mystery. When Cindy comes home, she is shocked to find that Cody has also seen the video.

While Tom meets an alien disguised as Michael Jackson at his farmhouse , Cindy uses the teleprompter on the TV news to warn the public about the deadly video. Even US President Harris is aware of the video and the threat of alien invasion. Cindy finds a photo of the Curlesco Island Lighthouse on the Internet and drives there. In the lighthouse she sees herself on many screens and meets a lustful man who introduces himself as the architect. He reveals to her that Tabitha was his adopted daughter . His wife filmed the girl's evil behavior and drowned her in the well. The man gave the film footage to the video store because he mistook it for Pootie Tang . He says that Tabitha called the aliens for help.

More and more reports of aliens appear and the Logans are sitting in front of the television with aluminum hats . The US President goes nuts at a Mother Teresa Awards ceremony. Cindy sees that her TV station is now broadcasting the deadly video. She later finds Cody at the Logan's house and tells him about his birth.

The five of them hide in the basement because aliens are at the door. Mahalik arrives and walks outside with Tom and George, where the trio meets the president who runs over two aliens. More rappers appear but shoot each other. The peaceful aliens explain their greeting ritual and say that they came to earth to stop Tabitha. Cindy recognizes the scene from the video in the basement and also finds the fountain under the wooden floor. Tabitha emerges from the well. She fights Cindy and takes Cody hostage. When Cindy and George offer to be part of the family, she briefly goes normal. Then the President pushes her back into the well with the door.

Some time later, Cindy and George get married. On the way to their honeymoon , they first forget about Cody. When the boy follows them, he is run over by another car.

Like its predecessors, this film is a parody with numerous allusions to other well-known productions from the horror film genre . This time the film series The Ring and the Film Signs form the central basis . Also 8 Mile , Up Close , Matrix Reloaded , The Others , The Sixth Sense and Mars Attacks! (which itself is already a parody of various invasion films). Furthermore, Michael Jackson and also the film Bruce Almighty are parodied.

The Lord of the Rings is also parodied in the opening sequence . Becca's mother says: Hello, my darling! , her voice and her emphasis on treasure refer to Gollum from The Lord of the Rings .

There is also a small reference to Doctor Who. As George mentions, "You are flying across space and you can't open wooden doors?" (01:04:00), this refers to the doctor's sonic screwdriver, which has no effect on wood and therefore cannot open wooden doors, as is often mentioned in the series.

Furthermore, a parody of American Idol (in Germany: "Germany Idol") recognizable: are finished as the two rappers before George says Mahallek, the moderator of the Battles , was now the jury it. Due to its new style, the film was received rather differently by the critics. Cinema found Scary Movie 3 by David Zucker to be “completely overhauled.” The director, who had become silent in the 1990s, “finally found its way back to its old form with the film.” Cinema sees Part 3 as “the counterpart of an edition from "Das deutsche MAD". Not all jokes are ignited, some are actually really bad. But in between there is always one or the other screamer. "

  • Shortly after the rap battle, a statement from the jury is required. One of the jurors is Simon Cowell , the counterpart to Dieter Bohlen in American Idol , the US version of Germany is looking for the superstar . Therefore, where he speaks in the English original with a British accent, in German his statement is spoken with the imitated voice and accent of Dieter Bohlen. His assessment, "To me, it looks like Kermit on ecstasy !" Alludes to the exaggerated polemical way with which they criticize the candidates on their casting shows.
