Master P
Master P (born April 29, 1967 in the Calliope Projects of New Orleans as Percy Robert Miller ) is producer, rapper and chief executive officer of No Limit Records . His son is the rapper Lil Romeo and his daughter is the singer and actress Cymphonique Miller .
Life
In 1990 he inherited $ 10,000 from his grandfather and founded the No Limit Record Store and later his own label called No Limit Records , on which he released his first solo album. He was supported from the start by Mystikal and the artist Snoop Dogg , who had become free again due to negotiating difficulties with his former label Death Row Records .
In addition to the commercial success through a typically "southern" sound and the excessive "bling madness" (which is based on the idea of wearing as much gold as possible), an early initiative in the film business helped him specialized in stories from everyday life in the US ghetto that were processed for the masses, to rapid success. Above all, the uncompromisingly glorifying portrayal of a street boy who had gotten rich from the drug and music business ensured full coffers. The very depressive, negative ambience of the rap genre, which reached its climax with Tupac and Notorious BIG and their two deaths, played an important role in the success achieved. Master P put an end to this dark, mafia-like self-glorification epoch of rap.
His two brothers C-Murder and Silkk The Shocker supported Master P on his other albums. Although TV stations didn't play his songs, they got on too. In 1997 the film I'm Bout It with a soundtrack was released in video stores. It sold several million copies even though it was never shown in theaters. Master P was also on the jury of a TV show.
The artists Mystikal and Snoop Dogg also helped Master P achieve further success with their two albums. However, after these two left the label in 2000, Master P's success declined.
His most famous song in Germany is Oohhwee . He has also had some cinematic appearances, e.g. B. 2000 in Takedown and in Just 60 Seconds and 2003 as Julius Armas in Hollywood Cops .
Master P is not only a rapper and actor, but also a basketball player. He played in the US basketball league CBA (Continental Basketball Association) for Fort Wayne Fury. Before that, he also played for Warren Easton High School in New Orleans and for a short time for the University of Houston, where he received little working time.
In 1999 he directed the film Hot Boyz .
At the beginning of 2014, the music label No Limit Records was continued under the name No Limit Forever . Master P released several new music videos in January 2014 under the new No Limit Forever music label.
