In the Freeway Club of Hollywood , the aspiring is rap quartet H2OKlick murdered by two masked killer. Experienced policeman Joe Gavilan is tasked with solving the quadruple murder. KC Calden, the newcomer with poor shooting conditions, has been assigned as a new partner for four months. Neither of them are passionate about their job, but rather put a lot more energy into other activities that hinder their investigations. Gavilan tries to save all his savings with real estate deals , while the shy Calden also works as a yoga teacher and pursues his dream of becoming an actor. He wants an appearance with an amateur drama group as Stanley in Tennessee Williams ' end of the line yearning as a springboard for a great career, but forgets his lines.
In the course of the investigation, the two are personally involved in the criminal case. The chief of the internal investigation department finds out that his wife is cheating on him with Gavilan. Calden, in turn, is given the opportunity to re-investigate the murder of his father, who was also a police officer.
It turns out that the record company president, Sartain, with whom the musicians were about to sign, commissioned the murders to prevent the successful group from leaving his label and discourage other artists from taking similar steps. When Sartain defends himself during the arrest, he falls from a high-rise. Calden can also pinpoint his father's killer, Leroy Wasley. It was Calden's father's old partner who was in cahoots with a few dealers.
Calden finally presents himself with a longing for a few producers , but one case calls him and Gavilan out of the show. He'd rather be a cop than an actor anyway.

James Berardinelli mocked the film on ReelViews as Dead On Arrival . He wrote that the portrayal of Harrison Ford was far from his best roles, Josh Hartnett would appear "disinterested" in the film.
The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw described the film as "uninspired" and was neither funny nor exciting.
For Nev Pierce of the BBC , the film came ten years too late because he missed the buddy movie era . But he praised the dialogues and characters that would ultimately save the film and allow a comparison with the films of the Lethal Weapon series.
