Ron Shelton

Ron Shelton (born September 15, 1945 in Whittier , California ) is an American screenwriter , director and film producer .

Life

Ron Shelton played basketball at a young age in college and later as a professional baseball .

He has been a successful screenwriter since the 1983 political thriller Under Fire and has also worked as a director and producer since working on Annie's Men in 1988 .

Shelton specializes in sports comedies and has had some great success with it. He has made films about baseball ( Annie's men , homerun ), basketball ( white boys can't do it ), golf ( Tin Cup ), boxing ( Knocked Out ). Experts do not see him as the only white director who made a film that can be classified as New Black Cinema because of the very successful White Boys Bring it.

His other films include the crime thrillers Dark Blue and Hollywood Cops . Most recently he wrote the script for Bad Boys II (2003). After that he did not appear again until 2010 with the staging of an episode of the documentary series 30 for 30 . In 2011 the television film Hound Dogs was made , for which he also wrote the screenplay. His next feature film followed in 2017 with Just Getting Started .

Ron Shelton is married to actress Lolita Davidovich .
