Reviews
Opinions on the film differ. On the one hand, the (action) show values were praised by some of the reviewers and the film was positively rated as an over-long popcorn cinema. Despite the positive rating, it was often criticized that the plot only serves as a link for the numerous action scenes. On the other hand, numerous critics attested to the film an enormous contempt for human beings, inhumanity and irreverence that had not yet reached mainstream cinema.
“Long continuation of an action comedy that mainly focuses on the attractiveness of chases and shootings and only interrupts them with the moderately funny arguments between comedian couple Lawrence and Smith. A cinematic act of violence, both because of the rude tone and the brutal sequence of images. "
“ Bad Boys II is a perfect example of how a movie shouldn't be. Here action should be shown to the point of excess, unfortunately it was forgotten that viewers take their conscience and brain with them into the cinema. Even if the action effects are nice to look at in some parts, the anger over this complete dumbing down of the people, which the film apparently wants to convey, predominates. "
“High-gloss director Michael Bay and riot producer Jerry Bruckheimer live up to their name once again and present 'Bad Boys 2', a loud, completely undemanding action film of the 'old school'. Despite sporadic technical brilliance, their excursion into the world of poses remains deeply despicable because they place their entertainment demands above a minimum of humanity and morality every minute. "
“'Bad Boys II' is technically a well-made action film whose cynical aggression could offend many viewers. With Michael Bay's body worlds, bitter disgusting humor finds its way into the world of mainstream cinema. [...] Conclusion: Explosive action sequence with unsavory scenes and a symbolic tendency to be too long. "
“'Bad Boys II' is first class high-gloss action that is fully tailored to the two main characters. […] Fans of the predecessor will feel right at home, but everyone else who is able to gain something from a typical Bruckheimer production can also take a look at 'Bad Boys II' with a clear conscience. Even if the film is not a mandatory visit, it is still a lot of fun over long distances. "
“Start with an explosion and then steadily increase - Bay and Bruckheimer have probably embroidered this motto on their pillows, because after a few minutes a wild chase breaks out in the street canyons of Miami. Huge explosions and daring stunts are used abundantly when Smith and Lawrence confirm their status as superstars for a stately 146 minutes. They impressively show the bad guys where the hammer hangs. "
