Oscar Ortega Sánchez (* 1962 in Lampertheim ) is a German actor .

Life

After training as an industrial clerk, Sánchez first worked as an accountant at Daimler-Benz. After attending a theater performance for the first time at the age of 24, he decided on a stage career. He quit his job and, after a detour to the Folkwang School, finally came to the stage studio for the performing arts in Hamburg, which he attended from 1987 to 1989. During his training he played as an extra at the Thalia Theater and was discovered there by the artistic director Jürgen Flimm . From then on, Flimm cast him in his productions and Sánchez played for seven years as a permanent member of the ensemble on the Hamburg stage until 1995.

He had his breakthrough in cinema in 1995 in Lars Becker's thriller Colorful Dogs . In 1998 he took on the cinema roles in Andy Bausch's Back in Trouble , in Hans-Christian Schmid's film 23 - Nothing Is As It Seems, and in Fatih Akın's directorial debut Short and Painless . In 1999 he was nominated for the German Television Award for his role in 36 Hours of Fear (director: Jörg Grünler ) . In 2000 he received a nomination for the German Film Prize for his role as the Argentine star ticker “Dios” in Tomy Wigand's comedy Football is Our Life .

In the following years he played in numerous movies, u. a. in A divine job  (2000), Emil and the detectives and D'Artagnan, put through their paces  (both 2001). From 2003 to 2007 and 2010 he took on guest roles at the Hamburger Kammerspiele, most recently in Über Wasser, to China , directed by Peter Lichtefeld . In 2014 he was on stage at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in Schlechter Rat , directed by Nicolai Sykosch.

In addition to his film and theater engagements, Sánchez also established himself on television and took on episode roles in the most important German crime formats; Outstanding here is his portrayal of a breakaway in the crime comedy series Fox and Goose - When Stefan rings twice (episode 16). He has been known to the public since 2008 as Commissioner Mustafa Tombul, who is investigating the Murder Commission of Istanbul in the ARD / Degeto crime series . He can also be seen in a role in Lars Becker's film series Nachtschicht as well as in numerous television films, among others. a. The Fog Murderer by Jörg Grünler , The Understanding of Women by Jan Josef Liefers , Kaspar Heidelbach's Hexed Wedding , The Patriarch by Carlo Rola and The Best Teacher in the World by Lars Becker.

After his appearance in Til Schweiger's film Kokowääh 2 in 2013 , Sánchez took on roles in the films The Cut and Saphirblau in 2014 .
