Locations

The series was filmed with German, German-Turkish and Turkish actors at original locations in Istanbul and the surrounding area until 2016 . The interior and exterior shots of the Istanbul Police Headquarters in episodes 1 to 18 were shot on the historic building of the İstanbul Lisesi in Istanbul's Cağaloğlu district , which was redecorated with props and extras as a police headquarters for this purpose.

Due to several terrorist attacks and the tense situation on site, ARD and the film production company Ziegler-Film did not want to endanger the security of the team and relocated the production initially to Izmir, about 320 km away, and then to Thailand in 2017 . The last episode is scheduled for 2020 in South Africa .
