Melanie Ann Winiger (born January 22, 1979 in Zurich ) is a Swiss film actress , presenter, model and brand ambassador.

Life

Melanie Winiger grew up in Losone in Ticino . She grew up trilingual because her mother is Canadian with Indian roots and her father is German-Swiss. She describes German, Italian and English as her mother tongues .

During her school education in 1996, at the age of 17, she was voted the youngest Miss Switzerland to date . She dropped out of school and worked as a model and presenter, including in 2000 for the TV recordings of the Arosa Humor Festival and in 2003 and 2006 in the Miss Switzerland election in her hometown of Locarno .

Winiger was married to the Swiss rapper Andres Andrekson alias Stress from 2008 to 2012 . She has a son (* 2002) from a previous relationship with Andreas Roth. Melanie Winiger has been married to Reto Ardor since May 2017.

Movie and TV

Winiger made her film debut in 2003 in the Swiss cinema comedy Attention, get set, Charlie! in the role of recruit Michelle Bluntschi. In the following two years she attended the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in Los Angeles . Back in Switzerland, she played a serious character role in the TV social drama Sonja's Return as the murderer of her husband, who is fighting for custody of her son after six years in prison. The film was broadcast on Swiss television on April 23, 2006 .

She returned to Los Angeles in 2006 for the movie Love Made Easy , where she worked with Oscar winner Martin Landau . In this film, which premiered on September 13, 2006, she plays the leading female role of a Russian stripper. In the original, English is not spoken in Swiss German. In the movie Breakout , in which her then husband Stress also played a role, she plays a youth worker who has to deal with violent teenagers from the hip-hop scene in Zurich's Schwamendingen district . The film focuses on youth problems such as violence, sex and drugs.

In 2010 she played in Italian as Michaela at the side of Alessio Boni in the film Sinestesia by Erik Bernasconi. Melanie Winiger was nominated for this role as “Best Actress” for the Swiss Quartz Film Prize. In the same year she appeared in the German-Swiss TV production Sonntagsvierer in a guest role. At the end of 2010 Melanie Winiger shot in Argentina as a language teacher in the German comedy film “Resturlaub”.

In autumn 2011 she was seen as a murderous peasant girl in the first Swiss-Austrian 3D film for the One Way Trip cinema alongside Sabrina Reiter . 2013 Winiger appeared in Los Angeles in the Swiss comedy Who Killed Johnny ( Yangzom Brauen ) with Max Loong and Carlos Leal .

In the years 2015 to 2018 she managed to gain a foothold in Germany. In Murder Commission Istanbul she was given a continuous role as forensic doctor Derya Günzel , she played the criminal Nazimha in the two-part TV series Traces of Vengeance and the Arab businesswoman Yasemine in the cult stoner comedy Lommbock . In 2017 she stood in front of the camera in the European TV series "The Team 2". In 2018 Melanie Winiger supported the international documentary #femalepleasure by Barbara Miller as Executive Producer.

Melanie Winiger has been a four-language moderator for over 20 years and has been leading through many occasions at home and abroad. Since 1998 she has been working as a brand ambassador for national and international brands. 2011-2018 Melanie Winiger advertised for Coop Naturaline .
