Hülya Özkan

Hülya Özkan (* 1956 in Turkey ) is a German-Turkish television presenter , editor and crime writer .

Life

Hülya Özkan came to Germany from Turkey at the age of seven. She studied political science and journalism at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and then worked for Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). In 1986 she volunteered at the Second German Television (ZDF) and became an editor at the Hessen State Studio.

She moderated the ZDF Neighbors in Europe, today from the countries and for several years the foreign journal . From 2001 onwards she was the presenter of the ZDF news magazine heute - in Europe , since 2005 in weekly rotation with Andreas Klinner . In 2012 she was replaced by Julia Theres Held . According to Özkan, the long-term moderation resulted in right-wing extremist discrimination by colleagues and viewers.

Özkan also wrote several books. Her first three novels are crime novels ; some of them were filmed in the ARD crime film series Mordkommission Istanbul .

Özkan is married to the director of ZDF, Thomas Bellut , with whom she has two children. She lives in Mainz and Istanbul .
