Michael Steinke

Michael Steinke (born July 4, 1944 ) is a German director and cameraman who made a name for himself primarily through his adaptations of Das Traumschiff as well as adaptations from the Rosamunde Pilcher series and adaptations of the novels by Inga Lindström .

Life

Michael Steinke started his career in television as a camera assistant and cameraman and only later switched to directing. In 1980 he was one of five authors who wrote the screenplay for the drama Journeys from Berlin / 1971 . His first film as responsible cameraman was the Frank Wedekind film Lulu with Anne Bennent in the lead role. After Steinke only acted as cameraman for three episodes of the dream ship (1992-1995 Tasmania, Hong Kong and Norway), he directed seventeen episodes from 1997 to 2005. His first directorial work was in 1996 the thriller Rivalen am Abgrund with Michael Roll , Christoph M. Ohrt and Ann-Kathrin Kramer . From 1996 to 1998 Steinke directed three episodes of the successful series Ein stark Team . He has also directed works by Barbara Wood , Charlotte Link , Inga Lindström and Rosamunde Pilcher . In 2010 Steinke directed the drama In the Shadow of the Horse Moon , starring Philipp Brenninkmeyer and Catherine H. Flemming .

On September 10, 2010, the drama The Last Patriarch with Mario Adorf and Hannelore Elsner, filmed under his direction, had its TV premiere. The shooting for the two-part family saga took the crew to Shanghai and Singapore . The film was shot in honor of Mario Adorf's 80th birthday.

Michael Steinke currently lives in Berlin. Through his films, shot in Egypt, Argentina, Chile, China, England, India, Mexico, Namibia, New Zealand, Samoa, Thailand and in the USA, he has extensive international shooting experience.
