action

The newly arriving guests are welcomed by the head hostess Beatrice von Ledebur. Among them is Linda Herzog, a wealthy widow who is on board for the seventh time. Beatrice also welcomes her mother, who is going with her for the first time, as well as Lucas Kramer, a detective superintendent, and the attractive Anne Schenk. The on-board photographer Klaus Vogler takes photos of the arriving guests and says to the astonished Beate Lentz that it would be nice to see her again. She explains to him that he has to mix them up because she is with her fiancé, Peter Böhmert, for the first time on board a cruise ship .

Linda Herzog ensures that the music teacher Eberhard Pauly is seated at her table, whereupon he says that he is honored. Lucas Kramer is sitting at a table with Anne Schenk, who doesn't seem to be happy about it. At the captain's table, Beatrice introduces her mother to the crew.

Meanwhile, the on-board photographer can’t rest assured that he was wrong about Beate Lentz. In fact, he finds a picture he took four years ago and the women are like one egg to another. Four years ago, however, the woman called herself Heike Schnettmann and was on her honeymoon. Vogler hangs up the two pictures next to each other. When Peter Böhmert discovers her, he becomes suspicious and wants to know from his fiancée what she did four years ago. When he shows her the picture, she vehemently denies being the woman in the photo. This leads to a dispute between the two. Shortly afterwards Vogler is warned by the captain, because he has investigated the former passenger Schnettmann. In a conversation, Vogler learned from Beate Lentz that she grew up in a home and did not know whether she had siblings. The man then contacts Heike Schnettmann, who absolutely wants to meet him. She tells him that her parents told her on her 16th birthday that she had a twin sister. She then tried everything to find them, but no one was able to help her until he called. She really wanted to see her sister now, she had waited so long for this moment. Vogler leads you to the Iguazú waterfalls , which offer a huge, impressive natural spectacle. The women, who look absolutely alike, hug each other, deeply moved. Then they talk to each other for a long time. The sisters want to go back to the ship together and surprise Beate Lentz's fiancé. In fact, Peter Böhmert looks stunned from one to the other of the women. He apologizes meekly to Beate, who thinks that jealousy is also a sign of love.

Linda Herzog learns from Pauly that it has always been his dream to become a famous pianist like his grandfather Emanuel Pauly. However, his father had something against it and so he went a different way. Now he is following his dream of seeing the Teatro Colón , where his grandfather once celebrated his great success. When he stands in front of the building, moved, Linda Herzog says that she has a surprise for him. Stunned, Pauly hears that Linda has arranged that he can now play there. “Play Beethoven's Pathétique like your grandfather did in 1923”, Linda urges him and applauds him after his lecture, which was wonderful. Pauly, in turn, expresses his deep gratitude for making his dream come true. At the end of the voyage, Linda confesses to him that since her husband's sudden death she had distanced herself from life because she was afraid of losing someone she loved again. Pauly confesses his love for her, but at the same time worries that he won't be able to offer her in the least what she is used to. He can offer her so much, things that you can't buy, Linda replies, and it doesn't matter who has the money, the main thing is that you have it. Then she tells him that she too now has a dream, a honeymoon on a ship.

Lucas Kramer overhears Anne Schenk putting a blonde wig on a little girl on shore leave. When she and the little one have almost reached the ship, a large car approaches both of them, grabs the child and rushes off. Kramer helps Anne up, who then tells him her story. After the divorce from her husband, an Argentine, she was granted custody of their daughter Laura. However, her husband kidnapped the child and took it to Argentina . Although the law is on her side, she cannot do anything in Argentina. Kramer then wants to help her and so the two meet with Maria Luisa, the sister of the child's father Ricardo, who is on Luisa's side. During a big party at Ricardo's hacienda , they manage to take Laura away unnoticed. When they arrive at the quay, the cruise ship has already cast off and to make matters worse, Ricardo and his men are on their heels. Kramer tries to reach Berlin in a motorboat , followed by Ricardo, who yells at them that they have no chance. From the Berlin , Captain Hansen as well as Schröder and Beatrice learn that passengers on their ship are in need. The captain then stops the ship and orders the three to be taken on board. Shortly before, Kramer takes on Ricardo, who suddenly pulls out a gun, and outwits him, causing the gun to fall into the sea. The escape succeeds and Anne Schenk thanks Kramer profusely.

At the end of the voyage, Beatrice's mother happily swept across the floor with the captain, after she had annoyed Beatrice during the voyage by pretending to her daughter that she was very ill, in order to get her to quit her job and go home with her get. Dr. However, Schröder quickly realized that she only wanted to put her daughter under pressure with her hypochondria and that she is perfectly healthy. Beatrice is happy that her mother is now looking optimistically into the future and has lots of new plans. In his closing speech at the captain's dinner , Hansen speaks, among other things, of the fact that age is not a question of the date of birth and how quickly things can turn into their opposite and how important love is in a person's life.
