A murder for Quandt is a crime series produced by Nostro Film based on an idea by Karl Heinz Willschrei and shown on Sat.1 in 1997 and 1998 .

content

The young commissioner Martin Quandt investigates murder cases for the Berlin criminal police. Always properly dressed and go outside his office, he uses as a preferred means of transportation a scooter brand Aprilia . Equipped with a sharp mind, Quandt is outwardly idiot and clumsy and thus weighs his opponents, i.e. the perpetrators in safety. Petrol station attendant Paule not only provides him with fuel, but occasionally also with helpful tips. The viewer learns nothing of Quandt's private life.

Others

The series was based on the American successful series Columbo with Peter Falk , even if the Berlin counterpart was not wearing a crumpled trench coat and was traveling on two wheels instead of a dented classic car. Also with regard to the perpetrator question, Ein Mord was a true copy of Columbo for Quandt , because the series did not work according to the classic Whodunit principle , the perpetrator was known from the outset and the viewer followed the educational work. And while Columbo kept talking about his wife, whom one never saw, Quandt repeatedly mentioned his superior, who did not appear.

A murder for Quandt started with a 90-minute pilot film ( Pech und Schwefel ) and was then broadcast weekly at 9.15 p.m. The audience participation sank in the course of the broadcasts, which may also have been due to the fact that the series ran on Wednesday evenings and therefore often had to compete with sports, especially football, broadcasts. Because of a soccer game, the last episode of the first season ( A good dog ) was only shown in 1998 at the beginning of the second season, of which only four episodes were broadcast. There are uncertainties regarding the question of whether and how many episodes were shot but never broadcast.

Reviews

A murder for Quandt was rated rather negatively by the criticism. “Hearty snoop, moderate tension.” This is the conclusion that Hörzu comes to in its preliminary review of the pilot episode. At the beginning of the second season, Hörzu complained that title hero Martin Armknecht was "unable to convince" in the previous episodes, although "the cases [...] are intelligently constructed".

The program magazine Gong was already severely criticized with the pilot episode: “Extra-long, low-point and extremely tension-free series start. [...] Quandt, a nice guy, but without the aha effect, (still) without a profile, without that spark that ignites the fuse for 13 upcoming episodes. "Three issues later," Martin Armknecht, this superintendent of the class, [... ] in practice still not what Quandt promises in theory (Columbo). ”In contrast, the conclusion at the beginning of the second season is:“ Enjoyment of thrillers with an intelligent story and a nice detective ”.
