Hartmann Schmige

Hartmann Schmige (born November 17, 1944 ) is a German writer and director . He writes screenplays, novels and plays and is a founding member of the Association of German Scriptwriters .

biography

Studied journalism, sociology and political science in Freiburg, Munich and Berlin. In Berlin he headed the film laboratory at the Institute for Journalism under Professor Harry Pross . Graduated with a master's thesis on the theories of film montage by Eisenstein, Kracauer and Bazin.

Hartmann Schmige has been a freelance writer and director since 1975 . Schmige initially wrote scripts for feature film comedies. The short fiction film Valse Triste , which was awarded the film tape in silver, was made in collaboration with Christian Rateuke and Stefan Lukschy . Together with Rateuke he wrote the feature film Der Mann im Pajama , for which the leading actor Otto Sander received the Ernst Lubitsch Prize . This was followed, again in collaboration with Rateuke, the scripts for some feature films with Dieter Hallervorden , including Didi - The Double .

In 1986 Schmige and a handful of other authors founded the Working Group of Scriptwriters, from which the Association of German Scriptwriters emerged, in which he was on the board from 1986 to 1999. Schmige has been an honorary member since 2016. Schmige is particularly committed to ensuring that the scriptwriters are recognized as equal creators alongside the directors. Schmige has also been involved in crime fiction since the late 1980s. Here, in close cooperation with director Michael Lähn, the television films The Lockspitzel , The Witness , Red Light and The Murderer and the Whore , which was based on the motifs of “Guilt and Atonement” by Fyodor Michailowitsch Dostojewski , were made. Schmige was and continues to be the author of many series and series. These include Wolff's Revier , The Investigator , A Case for Two , AS - Danger is His Business , A Murder for Quandt , The Public Prosecutor , Sperling , Double Use and Crime Scene .

Hartmann Schmige also works as a novelist and playwright. In 1980 he worked as a co-librettist for the music theater and in 1987 as a co-author for the composer WD Siebert in his opera Untergang der Titanic and the musical Schlemihl , which premiered at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Theater des Westens. Since then, the Titanic has been performed repeatedly in German and foreign theaters. His crime comedy Mörder und Mörderinnen (2017) was performed at the Schloßpark Theater in Berlin from February 2019 to June 2019. In the book he refers to gender equitable language and mentions the glottic stroke , which is used to mark the plural.

He lives in Berlin and temporarily in Finland, his wife's home. He also occasionally stays in the USA, where his son Maximilian Schmige works as Director of Photography.
