Ernst Stötzner

Ernst Stötzner (* 1952 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German actor and director .

Life

Ernst Stötzner was accepted at the state drama school in Frankfurt am Main in 1974 . After studying acting, he found his artistic home in 1978 at the Berlin Schaubühne . As an actor, he worked with directors such as Peter Stein ( Klassen Feind , 1983), Luc Bondy and Klaus Michael Grüber and in 2002 won an award for best actor in North Rhine-Westphalia . He was also a speaker in radio plays and concerts by Heiner Goebbels . In 1995 he played the role of Franz in Emir Kusturica's Underground .

From the 2006/07 to 2009/10 season, Stötzner was a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . For his portrayal of the puck in a Midsummer Night's Dream there , directed by Jürgen Gosch , Stötzner received the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring in 2007. In 2008 he played the title role in Richard III. directed by Claus Peymann at the Berliner Ensemble . Since the 2009/10 season, Stötzner has been a member of the ensemble at the Berlin Schaubühne again.

Stötzner has also been working as a director since the late 1980s. Productions were at the Schaubühne Heimweh by Franz Jung , 1989, Archäologia by Alexei Schipenko , 1993, at the Berlin Maxim Gorki Theater Die Unbekannte aus der Seine by Horváth , 1991, at the Nationaltheater Mannheim Kabale und Liebe by Schiller , 1995, at the Schauspielhaus Zürich Zyriko von Alexei Schipenko, 1998, at the Schauspielhaus Bochum Hedda Gabler von Ibsen and The Elective Affinities of Goethe .

In 2012 he performed Stephen Dedalus in the radio play Ulysses based on James Joyce , the longest radio play by Südwestrundfunk at 22 hours and one of the most elaborate radio play productions by ARD .

In 2013, Stötzner was nominated for the German Film Prize for his supporting role of the cheating husband in What remains by Hans-Christian Schmid .

In 2015 he appeared in a double role in the crime thriller Dengler - The Last Escape, directed by Lars Kraume .
