action

In Meerbusch, the sex offender Carsten Schneider, who has just been acquitted in an appeal process, is found hanged in a factory hall. In addition to chief detective Helen Dorn and her colleague Georgi, the retired detective Becker from the criminal investigation department is also interested in the case. At the time, he had worked on the case with Helen's father. Against all doubts of her colleagues, Helen Dorn succeeds in proving that Schneider could not have hanged himself, but was murdered. Accordingly, she investigates in the context of the alleged sexual offense. However, she also receives a tip that Schneider had messed with a drug dealer in prison, who actually still has a longer sentence to serve, but was able to escape the day before Schneider's death. Before Helen Dorn can further commit to him as the perpetrator, another murder takes place in connection with the rape case against Schneider. Judge Hoppe was killed in her home. She had recently contacted Helen Dorn to tell her something important. So the commissioner focuses on the sex offense again, but all suspects have an alibi. After Commissioner Georgi looked at the documents that the judge had requested from the district court shortly before her death, he noticed that the course of both crimes shows parallels to two murders that were committed a few years ago and were never resolved because they were suicides were classified. At that time, Helen's father was still in office, and a judge and a psychiatric expert were also found dead. There were suspicions that an investigating officer had withheld evidence, but this could not be proven. This means that both Helen's father and his colleague at the time, Becker, are now under suspicion for Georgi. Helen does not want to hear about it at first, but it does not leave her in peace and she asks her father. He still stands by his behavior, having stood up for Becker, after all, he belonged to his department. But Helen can now prove to Becker that he had left the path of justice out of sheer zeal for service. But Becker was not guilty himself, he tried to protect his friend Joachim Freynik with his manipulations. Since Schneider's acquittal and the judge's doubts would have ruined the work, he had killed her too. In order to evade the new suspicions, Freynik wants to kill Richard Dorn as an unwelcome confidante. When Becker intervenes, he shoots him. At the last moment, Helen Dorn was able to prevent Freynik from shooting her father and arrested him.
