Georg Marin

Georg Marin (* 2. August 1946 in Vienna as Georg Drozdowski ) is an Austrian actor .

Life

Origin and education

Georg Marin is the son of the Austrian writer and journalist Georg Drozdowski . As an actor, he appears under Marin , the name of his paternal grandmother. He grew up in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee . In 1960, as a teenager, he was already at the Klagenfurt City Theater as Tell's boy on the theater stage. He then completed his acting training in Vienna.

He received his first permanent engagement in 1969 at the Landestheater Detmold . Engagements followed a. in Krefeld , at the Städtische Bühnen Augsburg (1973–1981), at the Staatstheater Darmstadt , at the Landestheater Salzburg , Kölner Schauspiel (1990–1996, there among others in the world premiere of Ulrich Woelk's Death, Love Verification ), at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen. As a freelance actor, he has made regular guest appearances at various theater stages since the late 1990s, mainly in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate .

In the 1997/98 season he played Heinzi Bösel in India at the Small House in Düsseldorf. In the 2006/07 season he played the role of Pyotr Nikolayev Sorin in the Chekhov play Die Möwe (director: Michael Talke ) at the Bremen Theater . In the 2008/09 season he appeared in a production by Albrecht Hirche as Semjon Sachartytsch Marmeladow in crime and punishment at the Aachen Theater . In addition, in the 2008/09 season he took on the role of Rollo in The Hero of the Western World at the Essen Theater (director: Anselm Weber ).

Since 2010 he has also appeared regularly at the Théâtre National du Luxembourg. There he played in the 2009/10 season, in a coproduction with the Ruhrfestspiele , the depraved brother in Tankred Dorst's new play Ich shall play the conceited sick , 2011 the tramp Davies in Der Hausmeister , 2012 the curator of the poor relief institutions Zemljanika in Der Revisor ( Director: Frank Hoffmann, also a co-production with the Ruhr Festival and the Theater Bonn), in the 2012/13 season, the circus director Igor the Lippizanernummer of Jean Paul Maes (directed by Anne Simon), in the season 2015/16 the court President and former SS officer Rudolf Höller in Before Retirement (Director: Pol Cruchten ). The historical figure of Julius Streicher with code name Ashcan by Ouri Wesloy followed in the 2016/17 season (co-production with the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern , director: Anne Simon).

In 2011 he took on the roles of Dr Goll and Schigolch in Wedekind's Lulu at the Wuppertal Theaters . In the 2011/12 season he appeared on the stage Wuppertalen then a cynical Uncle Harvey in Nice Bescherungen by Alan Ayckbourn .

At the Koblenz Theater he played old Faust in Faust I (premiere: 2013/14 season, director: Markus Dietze ) and Faust II (premiere: 2015/16 season, director: Christian Schlüter). He also played the title role in the world premiere of King Lear by John von Düffel at the Koblenz Theater (premiere: 2017/18 season, director: Markus Dietze).

In 2016 he performed at the Klagenfurt Ensemble in a Karl Valentin evening .

Movie and TV

Since the late 1970s, Marin also worked for film and television. He has had numerous film and television roles. He worked u. a. with directors such as Claus Peter Witt , Gernot Friedel , Karin Brandauer , Hermine Huntgeburth , Dominik Graf and Franz Xaver Bogner . In the theater adaptation Die Räuber by Pol Cruchten and Frank Hoffmann , Maximilian Schell 's last film, he played the criminal banker Field.

Since the 10th season of the ARD series Um Himmels Willen (broadcast since February 2011), Marin has had a continuous supporting role in a series; he plays the scheming auxiliary bishop Wendelin Kalkbrunner. In February 2017, Marin was in the television series Ms. Temme sucht das Glück in an episode role; he played Dr. Sedel, the doctor of a 109-year-old patient ( Dieter Schaad ).

Private

Marin was married to the make-up artist Beatrix Safari. Their son is the filmmaker Niki Drozdowski . He lives in Cologne.
