For heaven's sake is a German television series that is produced by the new German film company on behalf of the MDR and has been broadcast on the Erste on Tuesdays from 8:15 p.m. since 2002 . 19 seasons had been produced by the beginning of November 2019.
For heaven's sake , 2012 was the most-watched television series in Germany with 7.1 million viewers.
action
The series depicts the turbulent life of the few nuns in the small monastery in the fictional Lower Bavarian town of Kaltenthal. Two topics dominate: the support of those seeking advice and help in the most varied of life situations and the struggle to maintain the monastery. Opponent of the head of the monastery - up to episode 65 Sister Lotte, played by Jutta Speidel , then Sister Hanna ( Janina Hartwig ) - and her co-sisters is Mayor Wolfgang Wöller ( Fritz Wepper ). He is constantly trying to repurpose the monastery according to his plans, which are supposed to serve the well-being of Kaltenthal, against which the nuns do their best. Wöller is often supported by the superior of the order, who wants to sell the property, which in her opinion is unprofitable, in order to improve the finances of the order. Wöller is also often to blame for the worries of those who hope for help from the monastery, or at least could help if he did not give priority to other interests. With skillful tactics and persuasion, the monastery director succeeds in overcoming Wöller's resistance. As often as Wöller and the monastery director clash, in the end they appreciate each other.

Running gags
- At the end of each episode (from season 6) Wolfgang Wöller and sister Hanna face each other, then the picture is paused and the credits begin.
- The last episode of each season, with the exception of the first and third season, ends with the big charity gala, moderated by Ms. Dornfelder, in which Mayor Wöller and Sister Hanna are urged to make a relatively comical, joint appearance every time.
- Some episodes begin with the sisters singing in the chapel, whereby only the last line of the song from “Meerstern, I greet you” is sung: “Maria, help us all out of our deep misery!”
- The appearance of Sergeant Meier's wife Trude is unknown. So far, it has only been doubled from behind in episode 11.13.
- Sister Felicitas' (male) turtle, "Resi", runs away in episode 6.02, but appears unnoticed by the sisters in at least two further episodes: on the one hand (with a partner) in the monastery forest, on the other hand (in 7.06, as a wöller of one Golf ball hit passed out and collapsed) with family (with partner and four little ones).

Spelling of the title
In the title of the TV series, the word will has been capitalized since the first episode, but small on the title page of the series book. Jörg Metes and Paul-Josef Raue described the capitalization of the word will in the series title with reference to the Duden as “wrong” or “error”.
Religious affiliation
The nuns of the Kaltenthal monastery have the name of a real order, the Magdalenerinnen . However, the habit is fictional. The Marian prayer is also only very loosely based on the Liturgy of the Hours of religious people.
