Philipp F. Koelmel

Philipp Fabian Kölmel (born September 5, 1973 in Rastatt ) is a German composer.

Life

At the age of seven, Kölmel began taking piano lessons. In 1992 he began studying sound engineering at the Berlin University of the Arts , but interrupted it in 1996 to study composition for film and television at the Munich University of Music and Theater . In 1999 he graduated with a diploma and returned to Berlin, where he resumed his studies at the Udk a year later and also graduated with a diploma.

Since 1996 he has worked on over 70 German films, including writing the score for the films French for Beginners and Small Murders . In the Munich hurdy-gurdy, he can be heard as a pianist in the TATwort improvisation theater . In addition to his work as a composer for film music , he also wrote the music for commercials and events. He also wrote the music for the film adaptation of the book Rubinrot - Liebe goes through all times by Kerstin Gier and was thus awarded for the "International Film Music Critics Association Award 2013" in the category "Best Original Score for an Action / Adventure / Thriller Film" nominated.

Philipp Fabian Kölmel is a member of the German Film Academy, the German Composers' Association (DKV), and also a founding member and volunteer on the executive committee of the German Film Composers Union (DEFKOM).
