The Inferno - Flammen über Berlin is a German disaster film .

action

After a cable fire, the Berlin TV tower is on fire. An elevator crashes and destroys the stairwell, so that all escape routes are cut off. 17 people are trapped by the fire. The main character in the film is Tom, a former firefighter who was dishonorably dismissed because his former boss, fire director Horst Strasser, held him responsible for the death of his son. Tom, who wants to save his great love Katja Strasser from the tower, who works in the restaurant there, manages to acquire personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus and to penetrate into the tower.

After many unsuccessful attempts to extinguish the fire, fire director Horst Strasser, who heads the operation, sees only one chance to extinguish the fire: He wants to blow up the carbon dioxide gas bottles, which are actually responsible for protecting the computer systems on the upper floor, in order to remove the carbon dioxide in the tower to spread and so suffocate the fire. In order to place the explosives, Strasser and Tom have to go to the upper floors of the tower together. The idea comes from Tom, the plan works and most people can be saved.

backgrounds

  • The restaurant facility was recreated for 8 weeks in a sports hall in Vilnius, Lithuania , in order to shoot the many scenes with an open fire.
  • The Berlin fire brigade supported the work on this film, so over 40 real firefighters from the Berlin fire brigade took part in the external shoot in Berlin. The film was also shot in a fire station in Berlin.

Reviews

  • Lexicon of international film : “ Or a television disaster film based on the usual knitting patterns. "
  • Quota meter: “ Anyone who still feels the desire to 'sweeten' the evening for over 90 minutes with moderate effects and actors should definitely tune in. All others are referred to the competition program at this point. "
