Klaus J. Behrendt
Klaus Johannes Behrendt (born February 7, 1960 in Hamm ) is a German actor .
Life and education
Klaus J. Behrendt was born in Hamm as the son of a pediatrician, grew up in Ibbenbüren in Westphalia and learned the trade of a mining mechanic there .
After completing his community service , he took acting lessons from 1981 to 1984 at the Hamburg Drama School Stage Studio with Hedi Höpfner and then took on a permanent engagement at the Bremen Theater . There he appeared in plays such as Danton's Death , The Seagull , A Midsummer Night's Dream or Three Sisters until 1988 .
Klaus J. Behrendt has two sons and a daughter from his first marriage and lives with his second wife Karin and their son from a previous relationship in Berlin-Charlottenburg. His son Tom is a German national rugby player .
Film and television career
He started his TV career in 1989 with a role in the television series Rote Erde II .
Behrendt achieved great popularity from 1992 to 1994 and again since 1997 through his role as investigator Max Ballauf in the WDR crime series Tatort ; initially as assistant to Commissioner Flemming (played by Martin Lüttge ) in Düsseldorf, later as Commissioner Head with his colleague Freddy Schenk ( Dietmar Bär ) in Cologne. In Tatort episode 234, Schimanski's weapon , Behrendt was already seen in a supporting role as Erwin Spilonska.
From 1995 to 1997 he played the role of private detective Alexander Stein in the Sat.1 series AS . In the Sat.1 television production Das Wunder von Lengede , Behrendt was seen in the role of a miner, his original profession. In spring 2005 he played the fictional Federal Chancellor Andreas Weyer in the ZDF television series Kanzleramt . In 2006 he acted with his colleague and friend Dietmar Bär in Der Untergang der Pamir , a two-part disaster drama about the sinking of the German ship Pamir . This project came about largely at Behrendt's instigation. In 2007 he played in the ARD television drama Simple People at the side of Barbara Auer, a family man who hides his homosexuality .
Klaus J. Behrendt is a member of the Federal Drama Association .
Awards
Klaus J. Behrendt was awarded the Golden Gong for the first time in 1998 (for the episode Iconoclasm ) for his acting work in the Cologne crime scene . The same episode also received a nomination for the Adolf Grimme Prize . In October 2000, Klaus J. Behrendt and Dietmar Bär received the German TV Prize for the best series actor of 1999 for their roles in Tatort . Two further episodes of the Cologne Tatort series received special awards: Odin's Rache was nominated in 2004 for the German and European Civis Media Prize, Mine Game was awarded the Marl Television Prize for Human Rights in 2007 . For his appearance in My Father at the side of Götz George , Behrendt received the Audience Award of the Marler Group at the Adolf Grimme Award and the Bavarian Television Award in 2003 . The film also received the International Emmy Award for best TV film. Since 2005 he has been the bearer of the honor mark of the Association of German Detective Officers . In 2009 he received a nomination for the Golden Camera for best actor. In 2011 he received a 1Live Krone (joint special prize for the WDR - Tatorte from Münster and Cologne with fellow actors Jan Josef Liefers , Axel Prahl and Dietmar Bär ). In 2015, Klaus J. Behrendt and Dietmar Bär were awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for their social commitment . In 2018, Klaus J. Behrendt and Dietmar Bär received the Rhineland Thaler from the LVR for services to the cultural development and importance of the Rhineland.
engagement
Together with the Berlin association pro futura , Behrendt campaigned for future prospects for young people and the long-term unemployed. In addition, he and members of the Tatort team founded the Tatort - Straßen der Welt e. V. , who campaigns for Filipino street children and which goes back to the highly regarded Tatort episode Manila from 1998, which addressed the fate of Filipino street children and child abuse. For this commitment he received from Kinderlachen e. V. together with Dietmar Bär the KIND Award. Since 2009, Klaus J. Behrendt, together with Dietmar Bär and Joe Bausch, has been the patron of the golfing against cancer campaign , which supports neuroblastoma research at the Mannheim University Hospital. Klaus J. Behrendt is active in nationwide poster campaigns as an ambassador for the German bone marrow donor database , the organ donation card campaign of the Federal Ministry of Health and the HeForShe campaign by UN Women.
In 2011, Klaus J. Behrendt and the Osnabrück businessman Reinhard Höfelmeyer founded the association We start equal eV in Osnabrück. This association uses donations to procure new, fully equipped school bags for school beginners from socially disadvantaged families. The satchels are given to families anonymously and without photos of the children through the kindergartens. After the great success in the Osnabrück area, this work is expanded to Cologne, Bonn, Dortmund, Wuppertal, Bielefeld, Aachen and Berlin. In 2018 Klaus J. Behrendt and Reinhard Höfelmeyer were awarded the “Wing for the Future” prize for the project at the 1st Children's Charity Gala in Osnabrück.
