The visit of her family to Mallorca begins with a shock for the attractive doctor Karla. Her father Hans, whom Karla has not seen for 13 years, is admitted to the hospital with difficulty breathing. While the doctors diagnose a harmless allergic shock caused by an insect bite, Karla believes it is dangerous poisoning.
A race against time begins for them, as other victims also show strange symptoms. Together with the former bee researcher and biologist Ben, she is looking for the strange species of bees that not only attack their conspecifics, but also animals and people who come too close to them in huge swarms and poison them with a deadly poison . After Ben was able to classify the bees, he discovered that this species was deliberately imported to Mallorca and bred there. The so far little cooperative biologist and head of the Entomological Institute Dr. Alvarez, who has already written some papers on this species of bees.
When a beach filled with tourists is finally attacked by the swarm, the police decide to evacuate the island part and to spray it with insecticide from the air in order to exterminate the swarm, which at the same time would have far-reaching consequences for the ecosystem of Mallorca. When they find out where Dr. Alvarez has set up his secret research laboratory, they break into it, overpower the biologist and force him to hand over the antiserum . With this they both go to the hospital to give it to Karla's father and all the other patients.
When Ben's car breaks down on the way, Karla accidentally discovers the bee's nest with the queen bee in an old mill. Karla immediately sets a fire in the building, then falls, is locked in and saved by Ben, but the fire triggers a huge explosion that kills the queen bee and her nest. While Karla drives to the hospital to save her father, Ben can prevent the insecticide from being used at the last second, as the bees no longer have a chance to reproduce due to the queen's death.
While Karla's father can be saved and father and daughter are reconciled, the fugitive Dr. Alvarez are arrested at the airport, and Ben and Karla have a happy ending together.

“Director Michael Karen, otherwise subscribed to easily digestible TV fare like“ Not without my father-in-law ”, tried his hand at“ Flashback - Murderous Holidays ”in the horror genre as early as 2000 - and failed miserably. He didn't seem to have learned much about this, because this flick in front of the well-captured holiday backdrop of Mallorca also uses the fears that characterize the aforementioned predecessors without telling anything really new. This is not surprising, because script supplier Annette Simon previously wrote the templates for comedies such as "Never trust your son-in-law!", "My mother dancing", "My charming enemy" and "The scam with love" - but that's just what they are no thrillers! "
