Axel Prahl
Axel Ferdinand Konstantin Prahl (born March 26, 1960 in Eutin ) is a German actor and musician .
Life
Axel Prahl grew up with his brother in Neustadt in Holstein . His mother was a saleswoman, the stepfather was employed by the employment office.
At the age of 14, Prahl took part in a music competition in his hometown, which he won and thereby qualified for its continuation at the state level. Fearing that success could change his life, he decided not to take part.
He passed his secondary school leaving certificate at a vocational school, while school was accompanied by a one-year internship in metalworking. Then he lived as a street musician in Spain, took his diploma in second chance education and studied for five semesters music and mathematics at the University of Education Kiel . Prahl, who has mastered the guitar and Pat Metheny is one of his musical role models, also played Irish folk as a teenager . He worked in Germany in summer jobs as a beer driver, track builder and waiter. A flatmate advised him to attend an acting school. Finally, from 1982 to 1985, he completed an acting course in Kiel . In 1984, Prahl began acting and was soon working at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater. He has lived in Berlin since 1992 . There followed engagements at the Renaissance Theater , the Grips Theater and the Kammerspiele of the German Theater . When he was at drama school, Prahl played in the band Ougenweide (he had a student contract at the Kiel Theater) and then founded the band Impuls. At that time, music and acting ran parallel until Prahl decided to act.
He made his television debut in Max Färberbock's Sleeping Dogs in 1992 . In 1992 he dubbed Michael Chiklis in an episode of the Miami Vice series . In 1999 he played a supporting role as a policeman in Nachtgestalten , his first movie. Since then he has been cast in this role again and again, for example in The Policewoman , The Hope Dies Last and The Border Guard and the Girl . The film Nachtgestalten marks the beginning of a successful collaboration with director Andreas Dresen : Prahl was awarded various actor prizes , including the Adolf Grimme Prize , for Die Polizistin , Halbe Staircase and Willenbrock . Since 2002 he is a Chief Inspector Frank Thiel together with Jan Josef Liefers the investigators couple in Munster for the scene of the WDR .
In 2007, Prahl contributed the theme song to the movie You are not alone with a reinterpretation of the popular hit. In the music video for the song When it happens, the band Wir sind Helden can be seen as a sales representative. Prahl and Andreas Dresen make music together in a band without a name, which among other things has cover versions of songs by Rio Reiser and Gerhard Gundermann in their repertoire. Since 2007, Prahl has hosted the annual open-air festival Inselleuchten in Marienwerder , which offers music and cabaret in an illuminated setting. In addition to moderation, he makes music and improvises himself there. Prahl is a member of the Kulturreich Barnim association , which is responsible for financing the festival.
On February 27, 2009 the audio book Where the wild maggots dig by Thorsten Nagelschmidt was published , on which Prahl can be heard as a guest speaker alongside Farin Urlaub . The audio book North Western spoke to Prahl in 2013.
On the album Ich bin der Boss by the Berlin band Knorkator , released in September 2016, Prahl sings the song Sit down , in whose music video he also appears as a singer.
From his first marriage, Prahl has two daughters, one is an actress, from his second marriage, a pair of twins. He has been married for the third time since 2014.
