alaska.de is a German film from 2000.

action

The film tells the story of Sabine, who moves in with her father because there is stress with her mother's new boyfriend. In the new city, she meets Eddi, whom she asks for directions. She is in a pretty dreary area, a satellite town with prefabricated buildings. Eddi and parts of his clique are her new classmates. Sabine meets thirteen-year-old Florian.

A tussle between Eddi, Stefan and Micha with the strange youngster Aldo gets out of control because he pulls a knife. In the further course, Eddi stabs Aldo in the back so that Micha would let go. The three of them flee in a panic, while Micha, who has taken the knife, meets Sabine. She is completely disturbed by the sight of the dying Aldo, in her confusion she drops her biology book into the pool of blood and does not manage to pick it up again. This bio book takes the police to the school and the grade of Eddi and Sabine.

Micha, who has already had a tough time and was already in jail, recently turned 18 and doesn't want to go back to jail. He's trying to cover up the matter. He was seen by Sabine near the crime scene and tries to silence her by threats; he also thinks of worse.

Sabine learns from Florian that the owner of the bio book at the crime scene is suspect. When the police appear in the school yard, Eddi decides to get to know Sabine better to find out what she saw and what she could testify. She then reports to him about her observation. Tender bonds weave between Sabine and Eddi.

Micha shows up at Sabine's one Saturday morning to pick her up for a dog fight and forces her to watch it. On the way there he scares her with rudeness. The dog with which she and Eddi sometimes went for a walk dies in the dog fight. Eddi meets the still very confused Sabine and takes her to a ruined building, on the roof of which Micha subjects Sabine to an aggressive interrogation. She confesses to having seen him. Micha indicates to push Sabine in front of the train and makes it clear in the following that he does not shy away from murder.

Sabine notices that Eddi only used her. The feelings they had for each other are gone.

Micha is interrogated by the police during the further investigation and initially detained. When he's out again, he learns that Daniel (a dealer), who the clique sometimes depends on, has a gun. He asks him to lend it to him. He refuses. Micha knocks Daniel down and steals the gun.

At the same time, Sabine's mother appears in Sabine's father's apartment and wants to take her back with her. Sabine is against it, grabs a long knife from the kitchen table in an unobserved moment and goes to Micha. Eddi happens to meet Florian, who, disturbed, tells him that Sabine has just held a knife to his throat. Eddi suspects something and goes to the ruins.

Daniel asks Anton, the boss of the youth club, to come along so that he can help him find Micha. They all meet one by one in the stairwell of the ruined building.

Stefan warns Sabine about Micha in the stairwell. It's already there and Sabine pulls the knife. Micha wrests it from her and threatens her and Eddi, who has just arrived, with the gun. Eddi manages to disarm Micha. The gun falls to Florian, who has sneaked after Eddi right in front of his feet. He cocks the trigger and fires a shot rather unintentionally and hits Micha in the chest. He dies. Eddi and Sabine are arrested.

criticism

The lexicon of international films judged that the film is an "atmospherically dense genre film with convincing (amateur) actors", but that it wants to be understood as a "thriller with a real background".
