Esther Gronenborn (* 1966 in Oldenburg ) is a German director .

Live and act

Esther Gronenborn is a graduate of the Munich Film School . In 1987 she was a founding member of the Stuttgart film event and artist group " Wand 5 ", which has organized the Stuttgart Filmwinter film festival every year since then . Since 1997 she has been working as a freelance writer and director. During her studies, she spent several semesters abroad in Hong Kong, China, England and Romania. Between 1994 and 1997 she worked for Columbia TriStar as a dubbing manager and did an internship at Columbia TriStar Hong Kong Office Asia Distribution . There she attended filming by the Shaw Brothers and the John Woos and Tsui Harks film workshop . In 1997 she finished her studies and worked for the company DORO Berlin as a music video director. There were clips like Knife in the Head or My Little Sister . After three years as a director for music videos, her feature film debut alaska.de came into the cinemas in 2000 and brought her u. a. the Lola for the best director. For Adil Goes and City as Loot , she received two more prizes. Esther Gronenborn worked for the Berlin Philharmonic, shot social spots and virals as well as three interactive feature films on drug prevention for the company Kakoii . She created several episodes for Gallileo Mystery and filmed the mystery thriller Behind Kaifeck with 24 frames and Seven Pictures . Esther Gronenborn was on the award committee of the FFA ( Filmförderungsanstalt ) from 2008 to 2014 and on the executive board of the Federal Association of Directing from 2014 to 2016 . She is a member of the German and European Film Academy as well as on the board of ProQuote Director .
