Stuttgart film winter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stuttgart association Wand 5 has been organizing the Stuttgart Film Winter since 1987 with the aim of creating a forum for independent, artistic film and stimulating communication between the audience and the artists. While the Stuttgart Film Winter was initially a pure film festival , in 1995 the presentation of shorts , experimental films and video works also included the first Internet projects, which have become an integral part of the Stuttgart Film Winter as a competition for new media . The image of the festival is increasingly being shaped by new mixed media forms and installations . A prize for media in space , which will be awarded from 2001, underlines the artistic range between classic experimental film and video art , net art and offline projects, club events and media installations .

In addition, the festival has had its own section for children for several years, the FiWi for kids . Children from the age of six should be given an insight into film techniques and playfully encouraged to deal critically with the medium of film.

The Stuttgart Film Winter is one of the most important festivals for film and media art in Europe.
