Stanisław Mucha (born May 3, 1970 in Nowy Targ , Poland ) is a Polish documentary film director who lives and works in Germany. He was already extremely successful during his studies at the University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg . In addition to his studies, he worked at the post office and various companies and, according to him, learned the language of everyday life. In 2001 he and Susanne Schüle won the DEFA Foundation's Prize for the Promotion of Young Artists . Mucha is the father of a daughter and a son. His films " Absolut Warhola " and " Die Mitte " saw viewers all over Europe. In 2007 he shot his first feature film Hope in Poland . Krzysztof Piesiewicz wrote the script for Hope .

Mucha deals, among other things, with the question of the identity of people and spaces. When asked if he will ever be a proud European, he said on DRadio in 2012: “I don't think so. Because Europe in general is an adventure, a very beautiful dream, an illusion, which thank God was started. ... Well, this identity has to be created emotionally, culturally, historically, it has to be tinkered with. "
