In cross-media works from photography, film, program codes, objects as well as performative and linguistic narration, Franz Wanner places local realities in global contexts. The installation Dual-Use examines the production of armaments and trends in social militarization. It is part of the collection of the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus and triggered a parliamentary inquiry there during an exhibition in 2016 . The Battle Management Drawings drafted in 2017 and the film From Camp to Campus take up the government's response and subject it to an analysis.
The play The Survey refers to the interrogations of refugees by the secret service and negotiates current ideas about citizenship, state welfare and state secrecy. The first performance of the "situational loop" took place in 2018 as part of Public Art Munich in cooperation with the Münchner Kammerspiele . The staging with Lena Lauzemis and Christophe Vetter does not simulate an actual survey, but simulates training as part of agent training with the involvement of the audience.
