Federal association directing
The Bundesverband Regie e. V. ( BVR ) is a professional association and artists' association and has represented the artistic, social, legal and economic interests of filmmakers in Germany since 1975 .
The association, based in Berlin, represents film and television directors - including screenwriters and producers - as well as assistant directors and script / continuities from the fields of cinema, television , documentation, dubbing , music video, shows, advertising and industrial film.
Its founding members include Helmut Dietl , Rainer Erler , Eberhard Hauff , Peter Schulze-Rohr , Michael Verhoeven , Franz-Peter Wirth and many others. Honorary Presidents are Bernhard Wicki , Maximilian Schell , Eberhard Itzenplitz and Volker Schlöndorff .
The BVR is the publisher of the RegieGuide, a popular reference work on most film and television directors in Germany.
From 1977 to 1990 the association awarded the German Actor Award for the most outstanding acting performance of the past year.
In 2010, the BVR awarded the German Director Prize METROPOLIS for outstanding directorial achievements in the fields of cinema, television and series as well as for the best young talent . Furthermore, together with the collecting society Bild-Kunst, an honorary award for life's work will be awarded. The first award ceremony took place on June 23, 2011 in Munich. The first recipient of the honorary award was Peter Lilienthal .
In May 2018, the association took part in the establishment of the Themis trust center against sexual harassment and violence .
